World's First CI+ Application

Ocean Blue Software was the first company to demonstrate and develop a CI+ application and a complete software product designed to CI+ specifications.  Ocean Blue’s ‘CI+ Content Control’ system introduces a secure link between the Common Interface Conditional Access Module (CICAM) and host enabling high value content to be encrypted. By using the ‘CI+ Browser’ and an embedded application in the CICAM, an advanced MMI can be generated allowing branding of the host to match that of the content provider or broadcaster.

CI Plus is an extension to the proven digital video broadcasting common interface standard (DVB-CI). The technical specification adds additional security and features.

The CI Plus Forum finalised the CI Plus specification in June 2008, which allows for the secure delivery of pay-TV services to digital TV receivers such as set-top boxes, integrated digital televisions (iDTVs) and PCs. The CI specification interconnects a CAM (conditional access module) and digital TV receiver (The "Host") so that any encryption system can be used in the receiver. CI+ strengthens the original specification to combat piracy and enforce a relationship of trust between the host and the smartcard.

CI+ Turbo

Ocean Blue Software's CI+ turbo enables the delivery of high value content in a secure way, adding value by enabling the branding of content, as well as assisting OEM/ODMs as they aim to reduce time to market. Sunrise CI+ has been developed to the CI+ forum specification. The software, developed in the portable C programming language, is an extension of Ocean Blue's existing DVB-CI software.

Ocean Blue Software has extended its CI+ software to encompass the following optional software functions:

Low Speed Communications

This resource allows the CAM to use communication channels that are available on the host. This can be used as part of a conditional access system or as an interaction channel.

CA PVR Resource

This resource allows the receiver to record protected content and to play it back at a later date.

SAS Resource

SAS is "Specific Application Support". This resource provides a communication channel between the application on the CI Plus CAM and an MHP application on the receiver.

CI+ Browser

Ocean Blue can also supply the Voyager MHEG-5 CI+ browser for host machines, including set top boxes and televisions.

Conditional Access and Common Interface

All of our DVB-based products fully support smartcard conditional access (DVB-CA) systems and Common Interface (DVB-CI) for pay-per-view functionality. Our CI Plus software can be supplied either on its own or fully integrated with our Sunrise DVB >>

Triton CI Plus Authoring Tool

To complement our CI+ solution, Ocean Blue also offers the Triton CI+ Authoring Tool, our visual design system, free of charge. This application provides the ability to generate the CI+ applications that are embedded in a CICAM. Triton is available to download free of charge. Triton CI Plus Authoring Tool >>

Ocean Blue has also developed a PC simulator tool which is available to purchase for £300 (UK sterling)/ $460 (US dollars). The simulator allows developers to test and debug an application on a personal computer. PC Simulator download >>
