Ocean Blue Software have joined DTVKit, the not-for-profit member organisation, as a founding member and has supplied the source code which will form the first software release for DTVKit.
Ocean Blue has licensed its widely deployed DVB Software solution to DTVKit by way of a perpetual, irrevocable royalty free source code licence. Members will benefit from Ocean Blue's mature software that has already been deployed in tens of millions of devices all over the world, guaranteeing that the V1.0.0 release from DTVKit will be of high commercial quality. These can either be used to implement a receiver as a whole or members can select from the variety of software components available (including DVB Core, MHEG Engine, HbbTV Plug-In and CI+ Engine) and integrate them into existing solutions. The high standard of software will be maintained over time through a system of moderation and change control which will ensure that DTVKit remains a reliable source of software.
Commenting on the creation of DTVKit Kevin Gate, chairman of Ocean Blue Software said "We have taken the bold step of licensing the source code for our range of products to DTVKit which marks a milestone in our strategy of expanding Ocean Blue's services and support revenues. We have received an incredibly positive reaction from those in the industry we have already talked to and are proud to have other founding members including Broadcom so actively involved."
Ocean Blue is currently supporting DTVKit and other founding members to develop the necessary infrastructure, processes, and test environment ready for the release of V1.0.0.

Ocean Blue, award-winning software provider of connected TV solutions, is pleased to welcome new CEO Paul Martin to the company.
Paul Martin has joined Ocean Blue Software Ltd as CEO to expand the executive team and drive the business forward into its next growth phase. Paul has spent the majority of his career in the semiconductor industry first with Philips Electronics BV and later with NXP Semiconductors BV, specialising in the Digital TV industry (STB and TV) for the past 13 years. Having started at Philips in an engineering role he quickly progressed into the commercial part of the organisation. He later held a number of senior management positions, including roles in Marketing, Corporate Strategy and R&D management.
Paul joins at an exciting time for Ocean Blue, with a great range of new products coming to market, which will enable their customers to exploit the exciting opportunities in the connected TV space.

Ocean Blue, a specialist provider of connected software solutions is pleased to announce the
launch of their 'Horizon' solution at TV Connect, the global connected entertainment event, in London this week (19th-21st March.)
‘Horizon’ HbbTV middleware will enable manufacturers and operators to provide set top boxes and iDTVs with full Connected TV functionality, allowing access to sites such as You Tube, Flickr and local catch up services; via a consistent User Interface (UI) and sitting alongside the linear broadcast.
